Inflation Chills Summer Dining
Description
Restaurant sales are anticipated to be impacted by inflation and economic uncertainty for the second summer. While restaurant owners are hopeful for a summer boom, consumers are hesitant due to the continued price rise and concerns over a potential recession. Last year, dining out declined during the summer months, and this trend might persist with a third of consumers planning to eat out less. Despite these challenges, about half of the surveyed restaurant operators are optimistic about increased sales or traffic, and the National Restaurant Association expects over half a million seasonal jobs to be added. The expected uptick in travel this summer may also potentially boost restaurant sales.
