Indo-Pacific Future | The Media Rumble 2021

The session on Indo-Pacific future was moderated by Karma Palijor, the editor-in-chief at East Mojo. The panel comprised Garima Mohan, fellow at the German Marshall Fund; Mareike Ohlberg, senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund; Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, currently director-general of the National Maritime Foundation; and Jeff Smith, research fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

The session began with a discussion on how India and #Europe must redouble efforts to increase dialogue and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific in the context of security issues, #trade and technological exchange. While highlighting the role of communication in various dealings between the countries, the speakers also emphasised the role of the media in initiating dialogue between the communities.

The discussion moved on to how the EU is currently not considered a main security provider in the Indo-Pacific, and how India might be a future force for greater convergence between powers experiencing rifts.
