Description

Seven Indians have been stranded in Dubai after their employer fled from the country without paying their salaries. The workers were left in the lurch without their passports and money and forced to live on footpaths for months. After a month, the Indian government has finally intervened in the matter. One of the seven Indians has been repatriated and another has chosen to stay back, while five others are waiting to return. However, no action has been taken against the company. The workers had been employed by Ortronics, which undertakes sub-contracts to lay down cables. The company's owner Roydin Roach, who had hired the men for the cable work undertaken by his firm, left for India without making any payments or arrangements.
