India test-fires nuclear-capable missile

India has test-fired a nuclear-capable missile that could reach Beijing, as well as much of Europe.

The country's Defence Research and Development Organisation said the successful test brought India a step closer to producing a weapon that would serve as a viable nuclear deterrent.
