India Reaches Climate Targets

India is set to exceed its original targets for greenhouse gas reduction; however, senior officials note that continued decline in greenhouse gas emissions will be tied to a robust climate fund—paid for by developed nations. India pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, but the Indian government requires further assistance. Currently, India can reach its goals for 2030, but the economy is not yet strong enough to go “net zero.”
