India porn crackdown

The government in India has blocked hundreds of adult websites.

An official said the crackdown is to prevent pornography becoming what he called a social nuisance.

Internet service providers have been instructed to block 857 sites according to the country’s department of telecommunications.

Last month the Supreme Court refused to impose an outright ban after hearing a petition that claimed internet porn fuelled sex crimes.
