India elections - phase 3

This is the third phase of voting in the world's biggest elections as Indians head to the polls in their millions.

There are 815 million registered voters.

And it's looking increasingly likely they're going to inflict a resounding defeat on the ruling Congress Party after the longest economic slowdown since the 1980s.

The opposition Hindu Nationalist BJP party is tipped to emerge the clear leader.

It's promising economic rejuvenation and jobs.

Even so, the Common Man Party led by anti-corruption crusader Arvind Kejriwal could introduce an element of surprise for both the main rivals.

The polls to choose members of the 543-seat House of the People are spread over five weeks in nine separate phases.

Voting ends on May 12th - the results are due to be announced on May 16th.
