On 'World Disabled Day' NewsX tries to highlight the plight of the specially abled with its special show 'India Disabled'. Economic liberalisation may have changed the face of India somewhat. But it's the life on the margins that indicates true progress. And when it comes to the physically challenged, the progress is next to negligible. They are kept confined to their four walls of their houses because our public areas and transport systems are of no help to them. India has over 80 million disabled people. The need of the hour is to make them independent. And the one sure fire way to do this is through sports. But the disabled athletes in India allege that corruption is keeping them miles away from this goal.
