5. Adrian Lamo

Lamo was arrested in 2003 after he managed to hack into the servers of the New York Times, Yahoo! an Microsoft. Lamo had become quite popular in the tech world for helping set up security systems for web servers. However, after the New York Times filed a complaint against him, a warrant was issued for his arrest. He also discovered and reported to U.S authorities that Bradley Manning was leaking classified information on Wikileaks.

He first hacked into the BellSouth server, but his real trouble started when he broke into the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, an agency in the federal government.
