Description

Researchers found that patients who undergo hip replacement surgery do not get more active after the procedure. The team analyzed data from 1,300 people who received a hip replacement, and then examined indicators of physical activity post-operation. The researchers looked for longer walking distances, cycling, and other forms of exercise. But they found no consistent increase in exercise following the procedures. Though they aren't quite sure why patients have not done more with their new hips, the team suggested medical professionals need to encourage more exercise after surgery.
