In the Room

일종의 퍼포먼스 영상으로써 영상 속 출연하는 인물은 주위가 소란스러운 차도 속 투명한 방안에서 자신이 느끼고 생각한것만이 진리라 믿으며 밖으로 부터 자기자신을 숨기고 있다. 그럴수록 점점 자신이 고립되는 것을 느끼게 되어 결국 마지막엔 방안에서 나오려는 시도를 하게 된다.

차도속 투명한 비닐로 감싸져 있는 공간(방)은 처음 인간이 태어났을 때 가지고 있는 '순수한 개념' 이라고 설정하였다. 현대인들은 순수한 개념을 갖고 태어나 인생을 살아가면서 미디어에 의한 무분별한 정보를 반강제적으로 접하게 되고 다양한 정보를 토대로 자기 자신만의 가치관이 성립되는 경우가 많다고 작가는 느끼었다. 모든 정보라는 것이 꼭 좋은 것만이 아닌 한 사람의 가치관을 넘어 인간과 인간의 관계에도 지대한 영향을 끼치며 그것이 만약 거짓된 정보였을 경우, 불어일으키는 결과는 매우 참담하였기에 이에대한 비판적인 내용이 담겨있다.


As a performance video, the main character, who believes what and how he feels are the only the truth in the world, is hiding inside the transparent room in the noisy road. He feels that he is getting isolated more and more by himself, and finally, he tries to escape from the room.

There is a setting that the transparent place covered by vinyl is the ‘pure concept’. Artist felt that humans were born with their own ‘pure concepts’ and their concepts have been disrupted and changed by unavoidable and forceful external mass media. The information from the media not only may be bad to humans but also seriously affects the relationship between humans. This video contains criticism about the terrible results caused by the information that is turned out to be wrong.

This video is divided into left and right side; left side is a monologue, and the right side is a performance video. In the monologue, one character freely acts 3 different roles. The script was written based on the artist’s personal acquaintances. In performance video, actor expresses an ‘”I” in the society’ by utilizing the characteristics of modern dance which actor is very familiar with.
