Cardiologist and entrepreneur, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy is the founder of Apollo Hospitals Group, India’s first chain of corporate hospitals. Starting out from Chennai in 1983 at a time when private healthcare institutions were unheard of in India, the chain now enfolds 46 hospitals in the country and abroad. Dr Reddy is a widely acclaimed and respected personage: among the innumerable felicitations conferred on him are the prestigious Indian honours, Padma Bhushan (1991) and Padma Vibhushan (2010). Dr Reddy has guided his Group to various philanthropic works in the area of health as well as disaster relief.
