The Carolina Chickadee was given this name by John James Audubon while he was at South Carolina. This bird, which happens to be curious and intelligent, includes a black cap, black bib, gray wings and back, and whitish underside resembles its cousin (Black-capped Chickadee). The two birds bear a striking resemblance.
