Description

The expiration of sections of the USA PATRIOT Act last month was met with enthusiasm from privacy advocates and defenders of civil liberties. The Patriot Act, passed shortly after the September 11 attacks, provided much of the legal justification for the mass surveillance conducted by U.S. intelligence agencies.
