ILLEGAL INFECTED LIVESTOCK SEIZED
Description
42 illegally imported sheep and goats were intercepted by the TTPS on Sunday in the Icacos, Cedros area.
The animals were found to be infected with an undisclosed disease, prompting a stern warning from Police Commissioner Allister Guevarro to desist from such activity.
He says illegal livestock importation opens T&T up to highly contagious livestock diseases, zoonotic infections, unsafe and unregulated meat entering the market, and severe breaches of national biosecurity.
