IKEA Acquires Supply-Chain Software
Description
Ingka Group, the parent company of IKEA, has acquired Made4net, a U.S.-based supply-chain software provider, to enhance its e-commerce operations. The acquisition aims to make IKEA's online business faster and more precise, catering to the increasing demand for online sales, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks Ingka's third 100% acquisition, following its purchases of TaskRabbit in 2017 and Geomagical Labs in 2020. IKEA has also allocated over $3 billion for global store upgrades, focusing on improving the customer experience and investing in technology for order processing. Acquiring Made4net allows IKEA to gain greater control over order fulfillment, a crucial aspect of its online retail operations.
