waves on a silent shore
each presenting countless shells
some bright and lusterous
other grim and bland

with all its tales
life is a trove of memories
some sweet and tender
others bitter and harsh

like a babe collecting shells
you treasure which entice you
while others you cast away

but with each new stride
you ought to seek new ones
for to stop and dwell on old
would be to squander
a stroll so short and beautiful

so with a new leaf turned
many more sweet memories and dreams
shall you add to your trove
