Description

Mt. Tahoma (also known as Mt. Rainier) is a volcano that at 14,411 feet (4,392 m) dominates the skyline of western Washington and towers over all the other peaks in the Cascades. It's about 50 miles from Seattle. This time-lapse video was shot in July and August of 2009 during expeditions to the northeast side of the mountain. As always, what fascinates me at high altitudes in the mountains is the way the light changes so rapidly, and the way that it reflects off the ice and rock of the glaciers that cloak the mountain.
