Ibrahimovic to leave PSG

Paris, May 13 (EFE).- Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who announced on Friday he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this season, will return to the French side as a sports director when his career ends, PSG announced.

In a statement, PSG said that the decision not to extend the striker's contract, which ends on June 30, was made by mutual agreement.

"They have also agreed that once his playing career is over, Ibra will join the capital club's management," the statement added.

"This is not goodbye, we will meet again", Ibra said in the statement, adding that he was "proud" to have had a "major role in the metamorphosis" of PSG, and which "has become a huge club on the international scene."

"I have loved every minute I have spent here," said the striker, who was appreciative of his teammates, the coaching staff and "everyone in the club."

"My heart is with the fans. They have always been amazing, from day one. They are the best fans in France," declared the 34-year-old Sweden striker.

"Now the time has come for me to take a new path," Ibra acknowledged and although he did not clarify he said he will "return" to the Parisian side.

The club statement was released minutes after the player published on Twitter that Saturday's Ligue 1 against Nantes will be his last match at the Parc des Princes.

"I came like a king, left like a legend," said the player, who joined PSG in 2012 from Milan.
