And for all the world
I would love to sit across from you.
See an evening candlelit flame
guttering with excitement
as it dances on the beauty
of your smiling face.
Watch your champagne
moistened lips pull away
from a crystal glass;
that you hold with slender fingers
as polished nails
scratch the back of my imagination.

My bachelor meal
has now gone cold, due
to my reverie
as I stare at a luckless empty chair
and fork another spoonful...

of loneliness and despair.
