Hyponatremia: Brief Review
7 Views • Sep 28, 2016
Description
A condition that occurs when the level of sodium in the blood is too low. More than 3 million US cases per year. Treatable by a medical professional. Requires a medical diagnosis. Lab tests or imaging always required. Short-term: resolves within days to weeks.
With this condition, the body holds onto too much water. This dilutes the amount of sodium in the blood and causes levels to be low.
Symptoms include nausea, headache, confusion, and fatigue.
Limited fluid intake, medications, and hospitalization may be needed.
