Hurricane Florence Kicks Up Waves on Outer Banks

The first powerful bands of Hurricane Florence swept over the Outer Banks in North Carolina on Thursday, September 13, bringing rough surf and high winds as the large storm barreled toward the coast.
At 11am local time, Florence was about 145 miles off the coast and was expected to pass over or very near the coast late Thursday or early Friday, bringing with it damaging winds, torrential rains, and a dangerous storm surge.
