For select former Air Force investigators of the 10th OSI

Scheduled to secretly convene in '73 at Ellington Field?
Under conditions for him more than ideal?
Some would say surreal?
With total silence of a wall of steel?
All continue to conceal?
Not one bit did anyone reveal?
LBJ, Preston Smith, Generals, and others would shield?
Such power the haughty young Lieutenant did wield?
Since '68 his military service was mostly spiel?
Even President Nixon did cowardly heel?
His desertion the cocky Lieutenant would not appeal?
His preferential treatment would always congeal?
All covered for him and his family with such zeal?
Others would always reel?
It was for them before him to kneel?
Only on his terms were others to deal?
Not once from any even a faint squeal?
Away their integrity he did peel?
Records of his crime they did seal?
If only justice they did not repeal?
Others' lives would not be played on his roulette wheel?
Lies costing lives would not be the eventual yield?
Then, as now, the country needed to heal;
Then, as now, deceit only led others to residence in more like Flanders Field?
