Huawei overtakes Apple as No. 2 smartphone maker

Huawei Technologies overtook Apple to become the world's number two smartphone maker in the second quarter this year.
According to research firm International Data Corporation, the Chinese telecom giant shipped 54 million phones in the said period, registering an on-year growth of 41 percent.
Huawei accounted for 16 percent of the global smartphone market,... beating Apple's 12 percent, or 41 million units.
The company experienced strong growth not only in Asia but also Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Korea's Samsung Electronics remained the market leader with a market share of 21 percent.
