Huawei Bets On Brute Force To Outpace Nvidia

Nvidia shares fell in premarket trading on Tuesday, giving back some of Monday’s gains after Huawei unveiled an aggressive three-year plan to challenge the U.S. chipmaker’s AI leadership. Chairman Eric Xu unveiled a three-year plan at its Connect conference to challenge Nvidia’s AI leadership by clustering Ascend processors with a new UnifiedBus system. Huawei also introduced new memory designs and roadmaps for its next Ascend chips, while acknowledging its processors still trail Nvidia in raw performance. The move underscores China’s push to build domestic alternatives as U.S. export curbs tighten. Nvidia shares had rallied on Monday after deepening its OpenAI partnership with a $100 billion infrastructure commitment.
