Because of their many technological initiatives, we have been able to not only explore space, but enjoy some of the biggest creature comforts we use every day. Things like memory foam, scratch-resistant glasses, various long-distance telecommunications techologies, and even advances in personal water filtration have all come from the labs of NASA as they researched new ways to make space travel possible.

With their Open Government initiative, Nasa is opening its doors to allowing pretty much everyone and anyone to help further the advancement of technology. Through social networks and a cloud computing platform they call Nebula, NASA is dedicated to sharing as much scientific data bas possible with the public in order to promote transparency and collaboration.
