Pus in belly button indicates that belly button (umbilicus) is infected, such infection can be due to belly piercing by belly ring, or by trauma by nail or accumulation of dirt in it, sometimes they can be infected by yeast. So pus indicates bacterial infection, mostly cause is Staph Aureus. Proper cleaning of belly button with normal saline, hydrogen peroxide and povidine iodine treats it well. In case of yeast infection antifungal need to be given.
