How to fix MC3 crash on Android 4.4 (see description)

UPDATE: Gameloft finally released a new version of the game, v1.1.4g, which fixes this issue. Some people are also experiencing crashes with v1.1.4g, but that is a separate issue from the crash in v1.1.3 and I am not aware of a solution.\r
