Jujitsu is a form of martial art originated from Japan which concentrates on close combat without a weapon or only with a short weapon. Like other type of martial arts, Jujitsu allows you to protect yourself against any sort of attack.

"Ju" can be translated into "gentle, soft, or flexible" where "Jutsu" can be translated into "art or technique". This form of martial art manipulates the opponent's force against himself rather than confronting it with one's own force. Practitioners of feudal Japan learned that the most efficient method of defeating an armored opponent is by using pins, joint-locks, and throws. Thus, this art form is focused more on throwing, immobilizing and pinning, joint-locking, choking, and strangling techniques.

Today, there are multiple variations of the art, and it is practiced in both traditional and modern sports.
