How to control problems during meditation?

Gurumaa Pranam. How does a sadhak come to know that urja has started rising up? Secondly does adopting wrong procedure of meditation result in disturbance in path of urja rising. I have been meditating on agya chakra for long time but it has resulted in severe headache. Now I have stopped the procedure but the headache still persists. Please Guide me.
