‘Our grief as senators is valid, but our mandate requires action'

Senator Risa Hontiveros clarified her earlier remark in her privilege speech about the May 13 Senate shooting incident, which led to an emotional response from Senator Pia Cayetano.

Hontiveros emphasized that the grief and fear felt by senators are valid, but she also said that action and accountability are still necessary. She explained that her statement about acting “parang walang nangyari” was about how the institution responded after the incident, and was not meant to dismiss the emotions of fellow lawmakers.
