Honduras: Troops mobilized to control migration

Honduras and Guatemala have agreed to create a new militarized wall to stop the northward flow of the region's migrants. The decision comes at a time when the United States is reinforcing migratory controls on the southern border, meaning Mexico, Guatemala, and now Honduras. At the same time, the Pacific Union, with its headquarters in Colombia, considers Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador just one country. Two weeks ago the Guatemalan and Honduran armed forces introduced a task force that will carry out operations all along the border, primarily to control the movement of people, and also to repress protests against unpopular government policies.
