Honduras: Militarization of security forces proceeds with US blessing

The Honduran government continues to militarize the country's security forces, with the approval of Washington. President Juan Orlando Hernandez was set to hold a high level security meeting in the United States on Monday, the second this year. Using the war on drugs as a pretext, the Honduran government is seeking to boost military spending and this could be accompanied by an increased US military presence in the country.
