MiD DAY began its journey on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway also known as NH-3, which is, of course, full of potholes and axle-breaking ditches.
The highway which begins at Mulund, seemed to be a good ride till Thane toll plaza. But that's where the journey assumed nightmarish proportions.
It would be no exaggeration to say that the MiD DAY team had entered a veritable 'pot-holistan' itself " a hell full of craters and gigantic axle-breaking potholes. Suffice to say that it was extremely difficult to sort out asphalted and tarred portions from the ditches and potholes.
"We paid toll to ply the road comfortably. But this clearly seems to be a miracle of sorts. Axles of vehicles taking this route are known to break frequently. Accidents of tyres getting stuck in potholes are a routine sight, though there is nobody to help," said Jawhar Sharma, a truck driver, who spoke to MiD DAY.
