Herbert Nehrlich - She Licks

Brown eyes of shining loyalty,
she even blinks and looks 'Chinese'.
Her origin is royalty,
the kingdom of the pesky fleas.
This is how All the girls should be:
Adore me, morning, noon and night,
and not talk back annoyingly,
no matter what I do or might
consider to be fair today.
She's happy for my table scraps
and always eager to obey.
She loves to join me during naps.
You ask about this 'woman's lib',
suspecting that I keep a slave,
of hairy leg and purplish lip.
These attributes requiring brave
and overflowing self-esteem,
which she possesses, and her zest:
Her favourite habit, it would seem
is smelling crotches of our guests.

This story has a happy end.
And it is shorter, maybe sweet.
I do agree that man's best friend,
a female dog, is hard to beat.
