Herbert Nehrlich - Houdini Roach

So ugly was he that I shuddered.
And quick to hide in tiny shadows,
just eyeing me, to see what I
had planned to do as predator.
It is enough I said out loud,
I like the geckos and the frogs,
but roaches give me all the creeps
they have to go, there is no mercy.
The magazine was close at hand
it was brand new and had a story
of old Houdini from the past
I hit him hard, would not regret
and slowly lifted up the mag
where did he go, the little bastard?
