Description

Rainbows transform
Angry sky to revelation;
Highway to hope-lined avenue;
Ordinary day to the dawn of time.
Not one, but a dozen heavenly messengers
Bring me to the present.

Weeks later…
A faint bow on muted scape.
I point for the child.
A moment shared, a feeling stored
For years ahead; a precious gift.
I squeal. She squeals.

Alone again
Through teary eyes … a rainbow,
Feebly rising, damp earth to sky.
Willing me forward; soothing the pain.
For just a moment I smile
And am tempted.

…Time passes.
Tempest softens, disappears.
I lift my eyes. My vision clears.
Heart-silence echoes across the dome
Summoning another rainbow,
This time, inside of me.
