you've been there for me
right from the start
there's always been
a place in my heart
that knows you love me
that knows you care
about my upbringing
how it should be fair
sometimes i'm selfish
sometimes i lie
sometimes i hurt you
without knowing why
so i'm sorry for everything
i have done wrong
and also i'm sorry
it's taken so long
to tell you i love you
to tell you i need you
to tell you how desparately
i want to see you
you help me, you feed me
you've watched me grow
after all of these years
i just want you to know
as i look back
on the good times we've had
i think to myself
i'm so glad you're my dad
