KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday issued Rs. 50 coin in honour of the services for humanity rendered by famed philanthropist and Chairman ‘Edhi Foundation’ late Abdul Sattar Edhi , ARY News reported.

In a ceremony held at SBP, Governor SBP Ashraf Mehmood Wathra presented the commemorative coin, engraving portrait of late humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi, to Faisal Edhi.

Addressing the ceremony, Wathra stressed that mission of Abdul Sattar Edhi should be taken on for recognition of his services for the welfare of society.

The central bank has issued 50 thousand coins of Rs. 50 which could be availed through the exchange counters of all field offices of SBP.

Earlier, the federal government had decided to issue the coin in the cabinet meeting held on July 15 last year. The SBP was authorized to issue Rs50 Commemorative Coin in recognition of his services to humanity.
