Haramosh Valley Dangerous Road

Traveled from Juglot (on KKH) to Sassi (on Gilgit-Skardu road) by road in an open jeep at night time. The sky was clear that night and the hour long journey was spent looking at the sky and identifying stars. The road keeps close to river Indus throughout.
The locals at Sassi advised us not to go to Dache at night time as the jeep track was dangerous. So we spent the night in sleeping bags in a small ground near the roadside restaurant. This ground was property of the restaurant owner. He offered us to stay here and we accepted the offer. Since it wasn’t very cold, we didn’t pitch tents. The mighty river Indus was flowing only about 50 feet down from where we were.
The Haramosh Pass connects the Haramosh Glacier with Chogo Lungma glacier which lies in the North East. Spantik Peak Base Camp is a popular playground for mountaineers attempting their first 7,000-meter peak in Karakoram. It is surrounded by Laila Peak (6986m), Mani peak (6685m) and the Haramosh Peak (7409mIt is also known as Golden Peak & Ghenish Chhish.
