I saw a man turn from a boy
Into solid gold.
Why couldn’t he be you?
Why am I humble and cold?

I want to hear it loud
I want to scream it high
I want to feel it deep
I want to be set free.

My fingers have not a friend but air.
In the pit of my heart I know you’re there
But distance is emotional,
I’m naked, stripped and torn.

I close my eyes to your baby face
Freckles and a grin so charming
But I could never harm you
I could never ask for a second wing

But it takes two to fly.
