Hannah Branz - A Cold Winter's Night

Twas a cold winter's night
The snow was softly falling
The animals nestled in their beds
While the moon shone on the snow

The dogs ran in the night
With the musher riding along
The dog's feet paded softly
While the man's breath froze in the fog

The wolves prowled hungrily
While the sled and team sped along
A queit yap told of them watching
As the sled pulled swiftly by

The dogs ran swiftly
Their muscles moving in turn
While at the head was an old wolf-dog
Who growled at the watching eyes

The musher knew the wolves were there
But knew they were only watching the passer-bys
As the sled and team sped along
Through the cold winter's night
