Handy Tips To Preserve Your Pumpkins

It's Halloween season, which most likely means your family is getting ready to carve some pumpkins. How do you make sure you preserve those pumpkins so that you're not carving them at the last minute? Fear not, RightThisMinute's spooky sorceress Jessica Hord has a few methods you can use to keep your pumpkins from becoming zombies before Halloween.


Petroleum Jelly Preserver

You'll Need:

-- Petroleum jelly (Jessica used Vaseline.)

-- Optional: gloves

 

Instructions:

1. Rub the petroleum jelly all over the pumpkin inside and out, paying special attention to the flesh of the pumpkin. You're done!

 

Cooking Oil Preserver 

You'll Need:

-- Cooking oil (Jessica used vegetable oil.)

-- Optional: gloves

 

Instructions:

1. Rub the oil all over the pumpkin inside and out, paying special attention to the flesh of the pumpkin. You're done!

 

Bleach Preserver

You'll Need:

-- Bleach

-- Tub/container of water

-- Optional: gloves

 

Instructions:

1. Using one teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water, submerge the freshly carved pumpkin for 4-6 hours or overnight. You're done!
