Haiti braces for storm Isaac

Haiti's tent cities brace themselves for the might of Tropical Storm Isaac.

The impoverished country - the poorest in the Americas - still has hundreds of thousands of people living in makeshift shelters like these, more than two years after a devastating earthquake killed more than a quarter of a million.

Many here are fearing the worst.

This man says that life is difficult enough under normal conditions. He expects there will be no tents left after the storm.

Isaac has already unleashed heavy rain and winds off Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and is expected to dump up to 12 inches of rain over some areas.

Haiti is highly prone to flooding due to deforestation making rescue efforts even more difficult.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe told a news conference that the government was trying to relocate vulnerable people to safer areas.

But for now at least, these poor residents can do nothing but wait.
