Description
As the snake grows and develops, it will eventually break out of the eggshell using a small, pointed projection on its snout called an "egg tooth." This process is called "pipping," and it usually occurs after several weeks or months of incubation, depending on the species of snake.
When the snake emerges from the egg, it is usually small and vulnerable, but it will quickly begin to grow and develop its signature slithery movements and behaviors."
Here are some key points about snake eggs:
- Elongated and cylindrical shape
- Smooth, leathery texture
- Soft and pliable shell
- White or cream-colored with possible pinkish or yellowish tint
- Snake uses "egg tooth" to break out of shell
- Emerging snake is small and vulnerable, but quickly grows and develops.
