Description

Gunmen block access to Libya's foreign ministry, demanding that officials linked to Muammar Gaddafi are banned from senior government positions.

Armed men surrounded the building on Sunday (April 28) raising fresh security fears in the capital, just days after the French embassy was bombed.

They're calling for a law to be passed which stops officials holding senior roles if they worked for the deposed dictator.

The law has already been proposed, and could force out several ministers and the leader of congress.

Prime Minister Ali Zaidan said the government would not "surrender" to attacks on government buildings.

He said the Ministry of Interior and the state news agency had been targeted as well.

Congress has previously been prevented from voting on the bill.

In March, protesters demanding the law be adopted barricaded assembly members inside a building.
