The American indie rock group Gringo Star from Atlanta, Georgia, was founded by Brothers Nicholas and Pete Furgiuele, and joined later by Lightnin' Ray Jackson and Jonathan "JB" Bragg. Self-described as a boy band, these guys have created a perpetually entertaining movie-esque sound that you can imagine hearing in the background of a Tarantino film or on Johnny Depp’s “Awesome Mix” playlist.

Gringo Star takes music to a whole new level, weaving layers of textures of sound to create a hypnotically colorful tapestry that feels like a homemade time-machine that transports you on a complex journey through the second half of the 20th century to today.

With haunting vocal stylings from the birth of rock-and-roll like that of Johnny Cash in “Ask Me Why” to gritty ballads reminiscent of Tom Petty in “Transmission” and “Eve of Expression”, the Furgiuele brothers’ vocals bring 50’s and 60’s Southern Rock to the new millennium.

If Gringo Star’s music was a salad, the ingredients would be gritty, harmonious vocals, tossed with a heavy 50’s beat, mixed with loose, dreamy lyrics. All while riding on a dizzying, psychedelic carousel in a western saloon watching West Side Story on a TV with rabbit ears and state-of-the-art surround sound.

With contrasting styles that harmoniously sync in “All Day Long”, the organ keys beckon you to join the sci-fi carnival ride of seductive lyrics and whimsical beat.

Gringo Star’s eclectic, soulful sound is rough around the edges, playful, electrifying and seductive, creating a fusion of senses that takes the listener to a familiar yet unpredictable world of déjà vu past lives and modern indie music.
