Green Lantern is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. While the original debuted in All-American Comics #16, the associated characters and it's core concept has changed signficantly over it's publication history; while the original concept was tied to a crime-fighting superhero who used the aid of a magic ring, the later concept casts a set of characters in a science-fictional element as law enforcement officers.
