Grappling with a 300-pound Grouper

Goliath grouper don’t have the ability to jump or make sizzling runs; what they have is sheer bulk. In this video, James Hall finds out what a challenge it is to pull a 300-pound grouper away from a wreck with 200-pound braid on a locked-down Okuma Makaira big-game reel. Hall is a fish-catching machine, but most of the fish he catches — as the editor of Bassmaster magazine — are a bit smaller. Check out his initiation into a very different fishing world!
