SOFT BRUISING puts an emphasis on the athleticism and stamina required to meet the demands of this abstract dance's unrelenting pace during its 60 min duration. The placement of the two face-to-face marathon runners on the two treadmills set upon an elevated platform at the rear, gave the work an unexpected twist while the lean strength of the runners provided a fascinating counterpoint to the plasticity and lyricism of the dancers.
